I have been travelling now for nearly three years. I left my 9-5 job in the UK and have never looked back. The one thing I would always advise anybody considering a nomad lifestyle is to just go for it! It will change you for the better. Music is my passion and I love to attend concerts of any variety but I do have a sweet spot for rock music.

How to Extend Your Digital E-VoA
So you have your E-VoA, great! Now you just have to remember to extend it in time. Here’s a simple guide on how to extend your eVOA in Bali, step by step.
1. Did You Get Your eVOA Online?
If you got your eVOA before coming to Bali using the Molina website (https://molina.imigrasi.go.id/), it’s super easy to extend! Just log in to your account, find your visa, and look for the “extension” button in the actions menu.
2. What If You Didn’t Make an Account?
No problem! If you bought your eVOA online but didn’t make an account, you can still access it. Here’s how:
- Head to the Molina website.
- Find the “Retrieve” menu.
- Enter your nationality, passport number, and birthday.
- Your visa should pop up, and you can then apply for an extension!
3. How Much Does It Cost?
Extending your eVOA on the Molina website costs IDR 500,000 (about $32 USD). It’s an online payment, so you’ll need a credit card or something like that.
4. What If the Website Doesn’t Work?
Sometimes, the Molina website might not show the extension option (which can be frustrating). If that happens, you’ll need to ask for help from a visa agent. The agent will help you extend your visa the old-fashioned way. This means you might have to visit an immigration office where they will take your photo and fingerprints.
5. Don’t Wait Until the Last Minute
It’s a good idea to start your eVOA extension process before your current visa runs out. You don’t want to get in trouble for overstaying!
Not Eligable for E-VoA?
If you’re not from one of the eligable nations or applied for a visa on arrival in person and have a physical Bali passport stamp, then you’re looking to extend 30 day Visa on Arrival in Bali by the more traditional method of visiting the immigration office. Read on to discover what you will have to do.
What You Need
Before your first trip to the immigration office, gather the following items:
- Your original passport with at least six months of validity left
- A copy of your return flight ticket
- Your VoA payment receipt
- Photocopies of all these documents, just to be safe
- 500,000 IDR ($32.38)
If you’re heading to the Denpensar immigration, be sure to obtain a booked appointment for the first visit. This can be done the day before via their website:
https://imigrasidenpasar.kemenkumham.go.id/reservasi
If you are not going to Denpensar, be sure to check with the immigration office before you go.
Choose the Closest Immigration Office
For your first visit, make sure you go to the immigration office that is closest to where you are staying in Bali. The officials will ask and direct you to do so. This is important for ensuring your application is processed efficiently.
In Bali, there are two main immigration offices where foreigners can extend their Visa on Arrival (VoA):
1. Kantor Imigrasi Denpasar: Located in the capital city of Bali, Denpasar, this is the primary immigration office where most people go for visa extensions.
Address: Jl. D.I. Panjaitan, No. 3, Denpasar Timur, Bali, Indonesia
2. Kantor Imigrasi Ngurah Rai: This immigration office is conveniently located near the international airport, making it accessible for tourists staying in the southern part of Bali, like Kuta, Seminyak, or Jimbaran.
Address: Jl. Perum Taman Jimbaran No. 1, Jimbaran, Kuta Selatan, Badung, Bali, Indonesia
How Long Can You Stay
You get an initial 30 days with the VoA. You can extend this for another 30 days, making your total stay in Bali up to 60 days. Start the extension process at least a week before your first visa expires to avoid complications.
Steps to Extend the 30 day Visa on Arrival in Bali
1. First Visit – Apply: Your initial visit to the local “Kantor Imigrasi” is to submit your application form and required documents. You will have to pay the extension fee which is usually around 35 USD (about 500,000 IDR).
If you are going to the Denpensar immigration office, you will need to book this visit online via their website: https://imigrasidenpasar.kemenkumham.go.id/reservasi
2. Second Visit – Biometric Data: Once your application is reviewed, you’ll be called back for your second visit. This is when they’ll take your fingerprints, a photo, and an interview.
3. Third Visit – Payment and Pick-up: A few days later, your passport, now with the extended visa, will be ready for pick-up.
During your final visit, You’ll receive a receipt confirming your extension.
Remember, each visit to the immigration office is crucial, so don’t skip any and always dress appropriately. Keep those knees and shoulders covered, and do not wear flip-flops or sandals. The dress code for government buildings is the same as religious sites so be mindful to respect the local culture and customs.
Visa Extension Agents
If making three visits sounds like too much work, you can opt for a visa extension service. They’ll charge a fee but handle all the required steps. Just be sure to choose a service with good reviews. A visa extension agent will usually charge an additional 200,000-300,000 IDR but it will save you the inconvenience of traveling to immigration 3 times. Instead you will only have to attend for the biometrics visit only. You will still need to pay the original 500,000 IDR for the visa extension which means using an agent will cost around 700,000-800,000 IDR ($45-$51).
What Happens If You Overstay
Overstaying results in a fine of about 70 USD (approximately 1,000,000 IDR) per day. This can get expensive quickly and can lead to severe consequences like deportation or even a re-entry ban. The entire visa extension process can take up to 7 working days so please keep this in mind for your plans.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking to extend the 30 day Visa on Arrival in Bali may require some paperwork and three important visits to the immigration office closest to where you’re staying but by following this guide and being timely, you can continue enjoying Bali for another 30 days hassle-free. Just remember to sort the extension as soon as possible to avoid the risk of overstaying.
Alternatively if you have your shiny new electronic visa on arrival then you can extend by paying the IDR 500,000 fee through the Molina website. Don’t leave it till the last minute to extend that digital Bali passport stamp, you need to give it at least 14 days from entering the country and sometimes, the official approval may not be emailed to you until after you were meant to depart. As scary as this can be, remember that if you have paid your money, it is your first extension, and you are waiting for the website to update, then it should be extended no problem (this happened to me and it was fine).
Now go ahead, sort out that extension, and get back to exploring the wonders of Bali!
