Bali sits in Indonesia’s island chain and has something for everyone. Kuta can be crowded and rowdy but has cheap beer and Ubud’s got good food spots and plenty of nature, it may have lost its quiet vibe but is the spiritual center of Bali. Surfers head to Uluwatu while families stick to Sanur.

Up north stays pretty empty – black sand and dolphins near Lovina. Local food at warungs beats restaurant meals, remember to try nasi campur and chicken satey. Rent a scooter to get around, but drive slow and avoid driving in busy areas like Canguu, Kuta, and Ubud unless you are a very experienced rider. Temples get busy with tourists and ceremonies – Tanah Lot looks better in photos than real life. Rice fields still exist but you will see new villas popping up everywhere.
