Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island, is located a short boat ride from Stone Town in Zanzibar. The island is famous for its historical buildings that were originally intended to be part of a prison complex, though they never served that purpose. Instead, the island became a quarantine station for yellow fever cases. Today, visitors can explore the old structures and enjoy the beautiful beaches and clear waters surrounding the island.

One of the main attractions on Prison Island is the sanctuary for giant tortoises, some of which are over a hundred years old.
